Santa Lucia Preserve-Carmel, California

The Santa Lucia Preserve is a 20,000 acre site located in the hills above Carmel-by-the-Sea and was one of the last of two original Mexican Land Grants from the 1830s. One of the largest private land holdings in coastal California, the Preserve is one and one half times the area of Manhattan Island, however man made elements comprise just 2,000 acres, or 10 percent of the property, none of which compromises its ecological vitality. The Santa Lucia Conservancy manages the remaining 18,000 acres for wildlife habitat, recreation, grazing and environmental research. While at the Santa Lucia Preserve, I acted as the Owner’s Representative on the vertical construction of all of its amenities. These included the 22,600 sq. ft. Preserve Golf Clubhouse, the Fitness Center and Pool Complex, the Equestrian Center, the renovation of the 1920s, 11-room Hacienda and the Stone Gatehouse/Sales Office at the Entry to the Project. I also served as Chairman of the Design Review Committee for the homes that were constructed within the Community
